About
I am an abstract artist and a Special Education teacher living in the United Arab Emirates. Originally from Philadelphia, PA in the USA, I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by a city full of exceptional history, art, and people who have always supported my creative endeavors. While I am not formally trained as an artist, I have always created.
My earliest memories of creating were fostered by my Mom-Mom’s cookie tin of crayons and the kitchen table. I had paint by numbers activities and those big sheets of paper with velvet outlines where I got to color in the magical pictures of enchanted forests with unicorns and fairies. When I was eleven, I started painting freely and gave them out as gifts. Since then, I never really stopped.
In 2020, I moved and converted my living room into a living room/art studio. After this change, I have created more pieces than I ever have, ranging from small trials and errors to larger pieces that demand attention and energy.
As I’ve grown, I’ve gone through phases of drawing flowers and hands, playing with charcoals, experimenting with oils, painting animals and portraits, and now- abstracts. Playing with color is where I feel energetic. Creating structure with color is where I want to be.
I believe in working from a place of intention balanced by free-flow form and intuition.
Mediums
My main mediums include acrylic and creating various textures with tools such as palette knives, butter knives, sponges, and cloths. I am also not afraid of spray paint and oils. I tend to gravitate towards medium-scale abstract paintings that allow the interplay of color and materials.
