I am not offended.
I am not offended if you don’t like what I create.
I could stop there because that is a statement with objective concentration. So let me say it again, if you think it is good or bad, I am okay with that. I am not offended.
I create pieces that are my own exploration of mediums, sizes, shapes, scrapes, and dates. My day, my experience, my perception is not the same as yours, and that is okay. But, what I want to do for the pieces that go out my door and into homes is design pieces that are enjoyed as an anchor or complement in a specific space.
Art is a process and each movement is unique to the artist. When I am painting for myself, I am immersed in the learning process of manipulation. I am practicing a specific skill or technique to understand all of its potential. I am not offended if you don’t like what I created. `again, that’s okay. But stay on this journey with me because as an artist, the process and product will always evolve. This is a journey and I will certainly create pieces that simply do not work- this is my ugly art, and this is precisely how we learn. I am okay with this.
One of my first critics was Dottie, pictured as the cover photo. At first, she barked at her portrait; I took that as approval that she recognized it was herself. Later on, she got up close and personal. I took that as acceptance. Thanks for your authentic response, Dottie.
If you have constructive feedback when you scroll through and look at my pieces, I would love to hear your perspective. I enjoy talking about art and learning more about the components of the process. I am a regular person, creating stuff and refining my craft.
